Grand Hotel Palace (5-star) is the largest conference hotel in Thessaloniki (built in 2004). The neoclassical building of the Grand Hotel Palace rises impressively in the west entrance, just 2.5 kms from the city center.


The shuttle bus of Grand Hotel Palace can pick up hotel clients easily and comfortably to/from the city center, at regular times during the day.

Accomodation

Special discounted room rates have been secured at the luxurious 5-star Grand Hotel Palace (venue of the conference) for the participants of the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Association of Southern European Economic Theorists. Participants should contact Grand Hotel Palace directly to make a reservation. Participants are advised to book rooms as early as possible, since rooms will be reserved on a first come/first served basis.

Deluxe Room size: 25 m2. All aforementioned rates include taxes, breakfast, free in-room Wi-Fi internet, free access to the internet corner at the lobby, free access to the Health Club (in-door swimming pool, sauna, gym), free parking. In addition, residents in Executive Rooms have free access to the Prive Business Center, a complimentary bottle of wine, pralines and a basket of fruits upon arrival.

*Children under 2 years of age stay at no additional charge with their parents. Children between 3-10 years old stay with their parents (extra bed added) with an extra cost of €15 per day.

Transportation

The “Makedonia International Airport” (airport code: SKG)in Thessaloniki is the second largest airport unit in Greece, serving over 5 million passengers per year and served by 27 international airlines on a regular basis, in addition to an extra 10 airlines that operate during the summer using charter flights. Thus it connects the city to many European capitals and several other European cities by direct flights. It also offers direct flights to other major cities of Greece and many Greek islands. Among the air-companies that fly to Thessaloniki’s airport are: Aegean Airlines, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Turkish Airlines and many low-cost companies such as Ryanair, EasyJet and Wizz Air. The airport is located 16 km from the city center.


Transport to/from the airport:


A public bus service (no. 78 and no. 78N) connects the airport with the center of the city at 20-minute intervals throughout the day and takes you to the center in less than 30 minutes (ticket costs €2). The bus also stops outside the conference venue, Grand Hotel Palace (bus stop name: “Oryzomyloi”). A taxi service is also available at the airport on a 24-hour basis.

  Makedonia airport to city center: €22 (appointment required, €5 penalty if the flight delays for more than 45 minutes and the company is not informed).

  Makedonia airport to Grand Hotel Palace: €24 (appointment required, €5 penalty if the flight delays for more than 45 minutes and the company is not informed).

  Grand Hotel Palace (or city center) to Makedonia Airport: €20 (telephone booking required).

Conference Dinner (Venue: Agioli Restaurant)

Two buses will be available for the transportation of the participants to the restaurant Agioli.
